Research

Over the previous weeks me and my group have been researching thrillers, and other significant information that will help us to plan and create the title sequence to our own film. I will be blogging all of the research we have done as a group over the next couple of days. We have made a plan for our research to make it easier to complete, as can be seen below, the work will be ticked off once we have completed it, to help us understand what we have left to complete.

Editing

How is there a relationship between different types of editing and representation?
- Different types of editing can represent things in different ways.

Reverse shot -
A reverse shot is one character being shown to talk back to another unseen character. It shows the other persons reactions to their words, and emphasizes that theyre on different sides.

Cut away shot -
A cut away shot is when the scene the scene cuts to another different scene. This is usually followed by it then cutting back to the original scene.

Cut in shot -
Like a cut away, but focuses on some part of the scene in detail before cutting.

Eye line match -
When the shot cuts to the view of what the character would be seeing.

Action match -
Where it cuts to a scene where the same thing is happening.

Selective exposure/ perception

From this Article, i learnt about selective perception, and the idea that our brain selects what information we remember, based on what is relevant to us as people, without us being in acknowledgement of it. I think that this theory is quite realistic, in that it means we take everything in and then sort out what information is relevant to us, and what relates to the beliefs we already share, giving everyone their own different views and opinions, making us all individuals, instead of just perceptions of the media.
